Title: Full Charger Bookkeeper
Status: Part-Time (27 hours/week)
Accountability: All employees assist the Pastor in working toward our mission to see, think, and live like Jesus. This position is accountable to the Pastor and PAA. Work is reviewed by parish finance council and school principal.
Purpose: This position is to ensure transparency and accuracy of all financial records for St. Rose Parish, St. Rose School, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, St. Mary’s Parish, St. Catherine’s Mission and St. Joseph’s Mission. The person in this role also serves the parish staff by maintaining the payroll system.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages the financial resource system of the parishes.
Supports the Pastor, Principal and PAA in preparing and administering all operating budgets. Assures accurate and confidential financial record keeping systems.
Provides assistance to the school Principal and school commission in implementing financial policies of the parish as they are related to the school and in development and implementation of the annual budget.
Serves as staff to parish finance councils by preparing financial statements and being available for consultation as needed.
Maintains accounts payable and receivable ledgers through QuickBooks Online.
Maintains all parish banking accounts and processes check requests.
Reconciles bank statements on a monthly basis.
Prepares staff payroll and maintains the Paycom payroll system.
Accounts for all parish collections on a weekly basis and prepares additional deposits. Maintains level of knowledge and skills required for the bookkeeping profession. This may be accomplished by participating in Archdiocesan sponsored training, attendance at workshops and classes, reading appropriate materials and/or membership in local professional organizations.
Participates in parish staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience as a bookkeeper for a non-profit and/or religious institution.
Proficiency with Excel.
Experience with QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online or other accounting software.
Ability to learn giving platforms used within the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Minimum of 2 years experience in bookkeeping preferred and/or AA degree in Accounting or Business Management
Desired Skills:
Time Management - Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently with multiple demands
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain detailed and accurate records
Attention to Detail
Ability to work well with others in a positive manner
